“Help is coming,” Casey told him.

He could see she had a towel pressed against his chest. He put his hand on top of
hers and smiled.

“Please,” Casey said in between sobs. “Everything's going to be okay.”

She started rocking back and forth, keeping pressure on his chest.

“Hurry,” she said.

William tried taking a deep breath and coughed.

He saw the blood shoot out of his mouth and onto Casey's shirt.

“You're going to be fine. Everything's going to be okay,” she told him, tears
continued running down her face.

William tried to say something but again, no sound came out.

His breathing steadied.

Casey gazed at him. Her eyes were so beautiful, he thought. He wished he had told
her. Told her everything he felt.

Casey's expression changed. The tears stopped flowing. She became eerily calm.

“I've never been here for it before,” she said to herself.

Despite the pain, William became more lucid as he focused on her.

“I've never seen you die before,” she said.

William took a short, labored breath.

“They were dreams,” she said. “All those dreams.”

She let out a sigh.

“They weren’t dreams, were they?”

William looked up to her but it appeared she was looking through him.

“My mom,” she started as a tear rolled down her face. “She woke me up. The morning
after prom.”
