Chapter XVIII
July 29, 2007
“You were right,” Casey stated. “You don't have much stuff.”
She scanned William's one-bedroom apartment. The couch, end tables, and most of his
kitchenware had been taken to his father's house or placed by the dumpster the
previous day. The only things left in the apartment were the belongings going to
Casey's house.
“I did warn you,” William responded.
William had ten moving boxes, figuring they would fit his things. He packed his CDs
into four and a half boxes, not leaving enough for his other belongings.
His clothes and the two pairs of shoes he owned would need to go in trash bags.
Casey talked William into taking his pans and cooking utensils with him. She felt
they were nicer than the ones she had. He agreed.
“You start getting your stereo ready,” she told William, shaking a trash bag to get
it fully opened. “I'll start packing your clothes.”
William had about ten days’ worth of clothes, not counting two dress shirts and
four hoodies. He figured two trash bags would be enough.
Other than his razor, shaving cream, and a few toiletries, everything in the
bathroom would be thrown out. He already had essentials at Casey’s, but the ones
here were nearly full, so he kept them.
