Chapter XVII
October 3, 2009
“I can’t believe it’s finally over!” Emily declared as they returned to their hotel
room. “Two years of dealing with that crazy woman and now we can finally move on.”
“I know,” William added. “It’s like a huge weight has been lifted from our
shoulders.”
“And just in time for our anniversary,” Emily replied. “Three years. Can you
believe it?”
“Well, kind of,” William responded. “Sasha is two now.”
“Oh my God!” Emily exclaimed. “She is getting so big.”
Emily had finished most of the bottle of wine that they ordered with their dinner.
William only had one glass. He was still in dad mode. He thought he would probably
never really get drunk again. Toddlers do not mix well with hangovers. He learned
that the hard way.
Emily jumped up and kissed him.
“No more of that vile woman,” she said, then kissed him again.
“That will be so nice,” William responded. He was thankful Emily was there for him.
She had gone over what to expect. How to be prepared for cross examination. And
after two years, it had ended. The woman didn’t get jail time but she did get
sentenced to be remanded to a psychiatric hospital.
