“William, I need you to do me a favor,” she said, handing William her phone.
William noticed she had the camera app pulled up.

“I need you to take a picture of me on the dragon,” she said. “Go about ten feet
that way so you can get a shot of both our faces.”

William went to where she directed and pointed the phone at her.

Her face lit up as she pretended to be in awe of riding the dragon through the sky.
William snapped five photos of her on top of the paper mâché dragon.

“Thank you,” Casey told him. “I never would have been able to forgive myself if I
didn't get a picture of that.”

Two parents came over and tied ropes to the dragon’s head and tail.

William stood and watched Casey, who looked through the pictures on her phone. He
couldn't recall ever seeing anyone as happy as she appeared then. He tuned out the
sounds of all the people around him and the sound of the paper mâché creaking as it
was lifted into the air.

Casey stared at him and flashed a wide smile.

“HEY!”

William snapped out of it.

“Look out!”

William glanced upward and saw the dragon coming towards him. He tried to sprint
but it was too late. The luck dragon was faster than him.
