the lake water.

“This is perfect,” Casey said.

They walked in the water until they reached a dock which marked the border between
the cottage and a neighbor's. The waves crashed gently against their legs. The
bottom of Casey's wet sundress clung to her thighs. William was thankful they
didn't venture out farther. He had his wallet in his back pocket and didn't want it
to get wet.

They stopped beside the old dock. Casey stood in front of him facing the beach. She
stood up on her toes to kiss him again.

“This is going to be a great honeymoon,” Casey told him.

“It will be,” William responded.

William felt something touch his leg and jumped.

“It's a fish,” Casey said with her face turning red from holding in a laugh. “Where
else would you expect it to be?”

“I don't know,” William responded as he watched a small fish swim further into the
lake.

“Don't worry. I'll protect you,” Casey offered.

She smiled then pushed him over into the water. He didn't go under but sat there
for a second wondering what happened.

He started to get up, but Casey climbed on top of him, straddled him, and kissed
him as the waves crashed around them.

William spread the contents of his wallet across the table in the cottage. He
didn’t have much, no credit cards, just his license, forty dollars in mixed bills,
and an old membership card for The Video Coop.

The video rental store closed a few years ago once a second Blockbuster had opened.
