“I felt it was the better choice,” she joked.
“You guys are married?” Daniel asked, shocked they never told him.
Casey busted out laughing. William shook his head no.
“Don't scare me like that,” Daniel told his son. “If you sneak off and get married
at least let me know right away.”
“We will,” Casey reassured him. “There's no plans of marriage right now.”
“Well, I'm going to need another drink after that,” Daniel said, grabbing his empty
glass.
“Me too, Dad,” Willow responded. They walked to the open bar to get drinks. William
watched his sister cut into the front of the line. A person was about to yell until
they realized who was doing the cutting.
“Maybe we should move our relationship to the next level,” Casey told William.
She moved her chair closer to his and laid her head on his shoulder.
“Like super-boyfriend and girlfriend?” William asked. He wondered if Casey was
going to suggest they get married. He wanted to. In his heart, he felt she would
say yes if he asked but he wanted to be one hundred percent certain of the answer.
“Is that a thing couples do?” Casey asked.
“I don't know,” William responded. “Maybe? I haven't kept up on this stuff.”
Willow and Daniel returned with full drinks. Daniel sat back down but the bride
remained standing, sipping on her glass of wine.
“Time for the brother-sister dance, William,” she told her brother.
“I don't think that's a thing,” William responded.
“It's not but I'm the bride and I want to dance with my baby brother,” Willow
pouted.
“Baby brother?” Casey asked, intrigued.
