William wondered if she did it on purpose or simply forgot she wasn’t wearing
underwear. He realized he didn't care either way.

“Which one is that shiny people song on?” she asked, turning back to him.

“That's on Out of Time,” William replied.

Emily grabbed the CD, glanced at the back cover for a moment, and placed it back on
the shelf. She moved to the couch and curled up next to him.

William felt a spike of excitement and tried to slow his breathing.

“You're pretty cool, William,” she told him.

“Thank you,” he said. “You're pretty cool too.”

“Listen, I know this is going to sound forward,” she began, “but it takes me about
forty minutes to get home at night. So, driving to and from work takes almost an
hour and a half.”

“I would hate having to drive that much time in a single day,” he confessed.

“I know,” she added. “So I was thinking. We're both cool. We obviously like each
other. I think maybe I should stay here while working because it makes sense.”

“That does make a lot of sense,” William said, wondering if she could feel his
heart beating faster.

“It does,” Emily agreed. “It makes perfect sense, doesn't it?”

“Kind of,” he replied.

“It would allow me to save up a bunch of money for the school year,” she informed
him. “I’ll save like ten dollars a week on gas?”

“That does make sense,” William said.

“And I could even cook for you,” she offered. “You wouldn’t be stuck eating just
pancakes and Cup of Noodles.”

“That would be nice,” William replied.
