William tore the paper and found a Nintendo Game Boy Color. He hadn’t owned a
console since the Sega Genesis.

“Oh, cool,” William said, flipping the box over.

“Sweet!” Willow exclaimed. “You better let me play it.”

“I shall think about it,” William said, placing the box between him and Casey so
Willow couldn’t steal it.

He opened the smaller gift. Tetris. Casey picked up the Game Boy box and inspected
it.

“Thanks, Dad.”

William balled up the wrapping paper and chucked it at his sister.

“Hey!” she shouted.

He laughed and started gathering his gifts to take to his room. Willow grabbed the
paper and threw it at his head. It bounced off William’s head and landed in Casey’s
lap.

“Sorry, Casey,” Willow said with a grin, suggesting she wasn’t.

“It’s okay,” Casey said, smirking.

“Willow, let’s go talk in the kitchen,” Patty said.

“Oooo,” William whispered as they walked off, leaving Daniel and Casey alone in the
living room. He sat in the recliner his mother had vacated.

“Have you been in town long?” Daniel asked.

“It’ll be two years this summer,” Casey responded.

“How are you liking it so far?”

“I like it. My dad chose this town because it wasn’t so small where everybody knows
everybody, and it’s not big enough where people are always around. He wanted the
best of both worlds: stores to shop at but not crowded.”
