“Mr. Further, are you using gluing cotton balls on a luck dragon to try to get me
to go on a date with you?” She smiled.
“Well, um,” William began. “I never said you had to be there. Only you have to pay
for it.”
She raised an eyebrow again, studying him.
“Very well, Mr. Further,” she said. “I accept. Loser has to buy dinner for the
winner.”
She extended her hand to shake on the deal. William reached out and took it.
“You can call me, William,” he said, shaking her hand.
“Call me Casey,” she replied.
She tried releasing the grip but both of their hands were covered in glue. Both
were shocked their hands were stuck together.
“You pull right, I'll pull left,” Casey said.
Their hands became unstuck. They sat for an awkward moment before they started the
game.
“Gather your balls, William,” she told him. “It's best if you keep them close.”
“You do the same, Casey,” William replied.
“And don't dip it into the glue, place it on and move on,” she told him. “We want
to make sure that they stick so they won't fall off during the performance.”
“Got it,” William replied. “Any other rules before we get started?”
“I don't believe so,” Casey responded. “But don't get upset if the rules get
changed during the game.”
Casey poured more glue on her paper plate. William copied her.
“On the count of three,” Casey said.
William nodded.
