She looked her brother in the eyes.

“Sometimes that's not enough. Some people can't be saved.”

“I know,” William agreed.

“We'll get through this, William,” she told her brother. “We will. There are going
to be tough moments. We have each other.”

“Thanks,” William said.

“Now, let's get started.”

She led him to their father's bedroom. Neither had been in it since they grabbed
his suit for the funeral. The bi-fold closet doors remained open.

“He had so many baseball hats,” she commented, eyeing the top shelf in the closet.
“Do you want those?”

“No,” William responded. “I got Mom's round head and I look stupid in baseball
caps.”

“You do, don't you?” Willow teased. “It's a shame to throw those out but I wouldn't
wear them either.”

She handed William a trash bag.

“You take care of the closet,” she told him. “I'll start on the drawers.”

“Sounds good to me,” William said, reaching up for a baseball cap.

There were over fifty hats on the top shelf of the closet. Most were from Gabron,
where Daniel Further retired from. A few from Cooper's Diner. Daniel must have had
one for each bar in town. William didn't remember his dad frequenting bars. It may
have been something he started after their father lived in the home by himself.

“No!” Willow cried.

William dropped the trash bag filled with caps.

“What is it?” he asked, stepping closer to his sister.
