back in the drawer.

Willow walked into the home as William walked into the living room.

“Hey,” William said.

“Are you ready for this?” Willow asked, setting her purse on the recliner.

“No,” William responded. “You?”

“Nope,” Willow responded.

William sat down on the couch. Willow sat on the other end.

“I was talking with Jeremy last night,” she began. “I know the plan is to sell the
house and me and you split the money.”

“Yeah,” William replied.

“Well, we talked last night,” she informed her brother. “We're doing good
financially. We don't need the money.”

William scanned the room.

“It would be nice but we don't need it,” she added. “I know you declined getting
alimony from Emily. I wish you had accepted it but I understand why you didn’t.”

“You don't have to do this,” William said.

“You're in a two-bedroom apartment,” she told her brother. “Just move in here.
Everyone will have their own space.”

“I know but it would feel weird,” William responded. “There are too many memories.”

“You'd make new ones,” Willow told him. “Then if you ever do move out, we sell and
split the money made.”

“I don't know if I can do it,” William said. He leaned forward, put his head in his
hands, and stared at the floor.

Willow scooted closer.

“William, it's okay.”
