William nodded.
“And you weren't like any other guy I had been with,” Emily said. “You were sweet.
You were the first guy I was with that didn't try talking me into having a
threesome. The first one who wouldn't suggest oral or anal when I was on my
period.”
“I didn't think that was an option,” William responded.
“I'm being serious, William,” Emily continued. “It seemed like we were perfect at
first. We met at the party, then again months later at the gas station. It was like
fate was putting us together for a reason.”
“On the day you proposed,” she began, “I just found out that I didn’t get my dream
job. I was devastated.”
William did recall the night they got engaged. He never asked her why she was sad.
He only wanted to cheer her up.
“Then you gave me a ring,” she told him. “And I accepted thinking this is what I
needed. What I wanted. What we wanted.”
She put her hand over his.
“I think we made the signs seem more important than they were,” she told him. “And
I want you to know that I wouldn't have wanted to have children with anyone other
than you. You are such a great father and I don't think I give you enough credit
for all you did for me and our children.”
William nodded.
“But it feels like something is missing,” she continued. “And I realize now that
it's us. I need more out of a relationship.”
“I know,” William responded.
“I started the Instagram page as a way to fill a hole in my life,” Emily told him.
