“That includes her too.”

“My baby,” the woman said softly.

“Let’s get them both in the back to get this sorted out,” the manager said.

The manager began pushing the cart with Sasha in it. William had a Walmart employee
on both sides, followed by the woman who was also escorted by two Walmart
employees.

The manager led them to the back into an entry that was behind the electronics
department. William had to think of a way to get out of this without Emily finding
out. He didn’t know how he was going to be able to do that.

The manager led them into the break room.

“You sit over there.” The manager motioned for William to go to the table in the
back corner.

William did as the manager commanded.

“You sit over there.” The manager motioned for the woman to sit at the table
closest to the door.

The woman followed the command as well.

Sasha was still crying.

William wanted nothing more than to grab his daughter and console her.

“Doug,” the manager said to the tallest employee. “Take care of the baby.”

“My baby,” the woman whispered. William gave her the meanest look he could muster.

Doug looked at the baby in the cart and shook his head. “I don’t know nothing about
babies, Jerry.”

“Take care of it, Doug!” Jerry barked.

Doug began rocking the car seat hoping that would help.

“Let me take her,” William said. “I can get her to settle down.”
