He saw the diapers that featured Sesame Street characters on them but Emily had a
thing about character branded diapers. He didn’t know why. It didn’t seem like a
big deal if Elmo was on something that was just going to end up getting thrown
away.

As he was looking at the diapers, he heard a cooing sound.

“Such a beautiful baby,” William heard a woman whisper.

He turned around and saw a disheveled woman touching his daughter.

“Excuse me,” William said. He began pulling the cart backward away from the woman.
She gave him a confused look but then the look turned to fury.

She let out a howling scream.

Sasha began crying.

William grabbed a random box of diapers and started moving away from the woman.

“YOU’RE TAKING MY BABY!” the woman screamed.

“It’s okay baby girl,” he told his daughter as he tried pushing the cart and
holding on to the box of diapers at the same time. “We’ll be back home in a few
minutes.”

“MY BABY!” he heard the woman yell.

He picked up his pace. He wasn’t sure what the woman’s deal was but he didn’t want
to stick around and find out. Plus the yelling was upsetting his daughter.

He wanted to get home as soon as possible and forget that this trip ever happened.

“HE STOLE MY BABY!”

William picked up his pace. He managed to get the diaper box into the front seat of
the cart. It blocked Sasha’s view of him, which seemed to make her cry even harder.

“I’ll get your binky once we get to the register,” he told his wailing daughter.
Then he wondered why he called it a binky. Who calls it that?
