responded.

“I probably do. It was such hard work,” Emily told him. “Now, I passed the bar exam
and can practice law in Michigan.”

“Congrats,” William responded. “So you can get me out of speeding tickets now?”

“If you pay me,” Emily said. “But my services are not cheap.”

“Well, I won't speed then,” William joked.

Emily laughed.

“That's probably for the best. I don't need my summer boyfriend coming into the
courthouse I work at to constantly pay off speeding tickets.”

“Noted,” William said. “You already have a job at the courthouse?”

“I do. I did a great job last summer during the internship that they felt they
couldn't function without me,” Emily told him.

“That's awesome,” William told her. “So double congrats!”

“Thank you,” Emily bowed her head. “Thank you.”

“Maybe I can take you to dinner tonight to celebrate,” William offered.

“That's a marvelous idea,” Emily agreed. “What time do you get out?”

“I'll be done at five,” he told her.

“Good,” Emily responded. “I already dropped some things off at the apartment. I'll
run home and get ready. I should be done by the time you get home.”

“Sounds like a plan,” William told her.

She stood up and they embraced. They kissed.

Emily hesitated for a moment before grabbing the back of his head to kiss him
again.
