throw up a little. Coke is good.”
“Okay,” William said and walked to the stairs.
“Coca-Cola,” Emily added. “Not the coke Mr. Stanza likes.”
He heard her giggling while he went to get the two-liter.
Was he too oblivious when it came to people? William had never thought so. He
understood the Jason thing. William did overlook the reason for the smell and the
fact that he always came to work with the munchies. Maybe he was a little naïve
when it came to people.
He grabbed the two-liter from the fridge and stopped when he got to the basement
steps. Cups, he thought. Even though they made out six months
ago, he wasn’t sure how Emily would feel about drinking out of a two-liter with
him.
His mind wandered to the possibility of kissing her again. He quickly pushed the
thought out of his mind. She said she would initiate if she wanted to kiss him
again. He wouldn't push that.
The worst thing that would happen if she never kissed him again is that he would
have a friend. That’s better than nothing.
“Yay!” Emily exclaimed when he got back to the basement. “You remembered cups.”
She had already cracked open the bottle and drank some.
William set the two-liter and cups on the table.
“I’ll be the bartender,” Emily informed him. She grabbed a cup and poured what
William assumed was too much. “That’s mine.”
She grabbed the second cup and put much less Jack in it. “You don’t seem like a
Jack and Coke type of guy, so for your first one, you’re just going to get a hint
of Jack.”
