session with me.”

“I would never,” William responded, hoping she wasn’t being serious. He bit his
lip. He didn’t want to say more and end up saying the wrong thing.

“Good.” Emily leaned over more so she could laid her head on her arms. “But if we
do end up kissing again. I initiate it. I get to decide.”

“Okay,” William replied, hoping the conversation would end in another kiss.

Emily slapped his arm. “I can see the look in your eyes, Melanie. I’m not going to
kiss you right now. I might never kiss you again.”

“I’m fine with whatever happens,” William told her, not wanting to seem like all he
wanted to do was kiss her again. He knew he would respect her wishes. If she wanted
to kiss him, she would. He would let her.

“So, what do you do outside of work?” Emily asked.

William didn’t have an answer. He didn’t really do anything outside of work. He
went to his apartment and listened to music or would fall asleep watching a movie
while in bed. He wasn’t twenty-one, so he couldn’t go to bars. His friends were out
of town. He wasn’t going to hang out with his sister.

“Just the usual stuff,” William lied. “What would you like to do outside of work?”

“Hmm,” Emily stood up straight. “I don’t know. But maybe we could hang out some
time. I don’t know anyone in town so maybe you could show me around.”

“I can definitely do that,” William replied proudly.
