As he lifted his hand, the marshmallow fell from his collar, leaving a faint white
mark. David and Willow handed him the rings.
Eric hesitated, waiting to see if Casey would acknowledge the marshmallow. She
didn’t. Her eyes were locked on William.
Eric handed William the ring. “Now repeat after me.”
William took Casey’s right hand and started sliding the ring on.
“With this ring, I thee wed.”
“With this ring, I thee wed.”
“Wrong hand,” Mrs. Harlow whispered.
Casey pulled back her right hand and held out her left. William adjusted, slipping
the ring onto the correct finger.
Eric gave her William’s ring. “Now repeat after me.”
William extended his right hand but Casey grabbed the left instead.
“With this ring, I thee wed,” Eric prompted.
“With this ring, I thee wed,” Casey said, placing the ring on William’s finger.
Eric scanned the final lines of the script. “By virtue of the authority vested in
me by becomeordained.com, I now pronounce you guys husband and wife. You may now
kiss your bride.”
William kissed her.
The Harlows clapped politely. Patty clapped and hooted. Daniel snapped photo after
photo.
After the kiss, David and Eric each gave the couple a hug. William embraced his
sister next.
The rest of the guests made their way to the makeshift altar to offer their
congratulations.
