“So, what do you want to do first, pancakes or movies? Or movie- pancakes-movie?”
Casey asked.

“I am kind of hungry,” he said. “Maybe pancakes, movie, pancakes, movie.”

“Two batches of pancakes!” Casey exclaimed. “That may be too much, Will. You’d
probably fall asleep before the second movie started.” She smiled. “And I don’t
want you drooling all over my mom’s throw pillows.”

“Well, I just wouldn’t lay down,” William said. “I can fall asleep sitting up. And
if I drool, it will just roll down onto my shirt.”

Stepping into Casey’s home for the first time, William noticed her home wasn’t as
cozy as his was. He felt he had walked into a catalog.

“Welcome to the Harlow Home,” Casey said. “I would give you a tour, but my mother
has horrible interior design. There’s hardly any personality to this place.”

“It’s nice,” William said.

“You don’t have to lie, Will. Why do you think this is the first time you’ve been
here? This isn’t a place that inspires warmth.”

She stopped, rose onto her toes, and kissed him. “Now, let’s go make some pancakes.
Hopefully, they will be as good as Cooper’s.”

“I’m sure that they won’t be. We may have to spend years working on the recipe.”

“Well, we don’t have years. We have tonight.” Casey smiled. “One chance, Will!” She
grabbed his arm. “This way to the kitchen, cook!”

“Wait, I thought we were both cooking?”

“Well, I am the supervisor. You’re the cook.”

William hesitated. “But I’ve never cooked before.”

“You’ll be fine,” she said. “I’ve watched pancakes getting made all the time. I
believe in you!”
