“Well, we won't need that. We're here celebrating our third anniversary, but my
husband is a recovering alcoholic, so we won't be getting any alcoholic drinks,”
Casey informed her.
William shot her a look.
“I’ll just have a Pepsi,” Casey said.
“Is Coke fine? We don't serve Pepsi.”
Casey nodded.
“Congratulations on the anniversary,” the waitress added.
“Thank you,” Casey said.
“I'll have a Coke also,” William added.
“I'll go grab those right away.”
As the waitress walked away, William turned to Casey. “I’m a recovering alcoholic?”
“Sorry, darling. You got so bad. But thankfully, you realized you had a problem and
took steps to fix it. You are so responsible now.” She smiled and winked. “I am so
proud of you.”
A few minutes later, the waitress returned with their drinks. “Do you two need a
few minutes to look over the menu? Or do you want to start with an appetizer?”
“I think we’ll take the quesadillas to start, but we do need a few moments to look
over the menu,” Casey said. She opened hers and added, “This is the first time
we've managed to get out of the house. It's so hard finding someone who is willing
to babysit a newborn.”
“Congrats on the baby too,” the waitress said.
“Thank you. It's rough, especially with this one working so much overtime in the
factory,” Casey added.
The waitress turned to William. “You work at Gabron?”
