“Forty is still young nowadays,” David told him. “Back in the day forty year olds looked like Wilford Brimley in Cocoon. You don’t have any gray hairs yet.”

“I’ve got a few,” William confessed. “Sasha plucks them out if I fall asleep on the couch.”

“She’s probably doing you a favor,” David laughed.

“Oh, it’s a fun game for her,” William smiled. “”See how many hairs I can pluck off dad’s head before he wakes up’ isn’t my kind of game though. I’m just glad Samuel doesn’t play it.”

“You’d probably end up bald within a week,” David retorted.

William hadn’t been to the football field since the senior year homecoming game. He didn’t particularly care for sports. Nor was the team very good his senior year from what he remembered.

He had skipped most of the after school events. He remembered kind of looking down on the people who did attend them. He had felt that there was more to life than high school, especially when he was a student there.

Eric caught up to them, bringing the cooler of beer with him. William accepted the beer handed to him while David passed.
