“You can just tell me where we’re going,” William told David.
“It’s a surprise,” David replied.
David was supposed to be taking William to lunch for his fortieth birthday. But William no longer thought lunch was part of the plan.
When David picked him up, he handed William a blindfold to put on. He protested at first but his friend wouldn’t leave until the blindfold was on.
After the first few turns, William tensed up. He didn’t know when David was going to turn or stop. Not being able to see resulted in William hitting his head on the window when his friend took a right turn to fast.
“Can you at least use your blinkers when turning?” William asked.
He kept one hand pressed against the passenger door and the other pressed against the dash. Both feet were planted on the floor, pressing down as hard as he could.
“I am using my blinkers,” David informed him. “They just have a soft click.”
“If feels like we are going really fast,” William said.
“I’m not even going the speed limit,” David told him. William could picture the smirk David was probably giving him. “There’s a lot of old people out and about at this time of day.”
William sighed.
